Justin Hanson.

I'm a writer, developer, and digital marketer in Columbus, Ohio.

About Me

A Columbus, Ohio native, I've lived and worked in Columbus most of my life. I'm very passionate about continuing education, the Humanities, literature, and the arts. In my spare time I also enjoy frequenting the downtown YMCA, playing racquetball or tennis, running, discovering new restaurants, and enjoying a nice cocktail or cigar. I also enjoy traveling, and I have a number of countries to cross off my bucket list.

Professionally, my career has had an interesting and unexpected evolution. In 2012, I began a PhD program in English Literature at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. After achieving my M.A. degree in 2014, I decided to exit the PhD program and return to Columbus, OH, where I took a job as a writer at a digital marketing company, The Shipyard.

From there, I quickly absorbed the landscape of digital marketing, SEO, SEM, ad buys, and the nature of business on the web. Around that time, I had developed an interest in programming and web development, and, following lenghty online coursework and guidance by senior developers, transitioned to the development team, where I began as a support developer. Since then, I haven't looked back and have enjoyed development immensely. I'm particularly interested in Javascript and modern JS development frameworks like ReactJS. My future goals include utilizing React Native for mobile application development.
